CLASS DESCRIPTION
In this workshop we will cover the basic principals of the lost wax casting process, sand mold casting and cuttlefish bone casting. We start by creating a wax model, using cold and hot wax working techniques. If you are familiar with wax working, hone your skills and learn tricks of the trade from a 35 year veteran. Once your original model is completed we will invest, burnout and centrifuge cast your piece. After casting there are a number of different finishing possibilities that will taught. During the workshop both sand casting and cuttle fish bone casting will also be demonstrated and put into practice by those whom choose. Bronze casting grain, wax and investment plaster will be provided for the materials fee. Sterling silver grains will be available at current market value. Students are welcome to provide their own metal of choice as well.

The Susan E. Wood Jewelry Studio is available for use for a fee the days following your workshop should you like to continue practicing new skills or finish projects started in class. For more details or to schedule extra workdays, please contact Nancy Gardner, Jewelry Coordinator/Studio Manager.
