In this workshop, students will learn techniques to create animal portraits from wildlife photos. On Day 1, students will practice with available options and create a koi portrait using raw-edge appliqué techniques. On Days 2 and 3, you will create your own portrait* from your personal choice of image. Principles of value and fabric selection, composition, and background elements will be discussed. We’ll also discuss selection of images and ways to convert them into patterns using Photoshop techniques. (Note – this class does not require a computer or photo-editing skills.)
*You will need to contact the instructor prior to the workshop to coordinate which photo you will use to create your pattern. Photo choice must either be a personal photograph or one you have permission to use.
