At the beginning of this year, my expressive style of California Vibe Watercolor Portraiture™ painting was recognized in an article published by International Artist magazine. I’ll be teaching that same style in this online, two-day California Vibe Watercolor Pet Portraiture workshop. We'll be rendering a dog and cat. I will supply you with their reference photos to paint from as well as the outline drawings for you to trace onto your watercolor paper. I'll show you how to see and paint basic value shapes and not get caught up in fine details. In other words, you will learn how to paint the big picture. This allows the artist to capture a likeness with bold, energetic, and colorful brush strokes.

Blossoms, splatters, and paint runs welcomed! On the first day, of the workshop, we will paint eighth-sheet practice studies of our two huggable subjects. On the second day, taking the lessons learned from the practice studies, we will create final quarter-sheet paintings. As well, I'll inspire you to take fun, dramatic photos of your pets and show you the best way to translate them into photo tracings used for the final painting process. All of this with only one large round watercolor brush and five basic primary colors.
