Garden Paradise • Café Beaujolais
Behind the world-renowned restaurant Cafe Beaujolais lies an intimate collector’s garden artfully crammed with rare and unusual life. The garden was designed by expert garden landscaper Jaen Treesinger, who has been featured in Horticulturalist Magazine. She has been using the garden as a playground for over twenty years with the weekly help of Dan Salmond. The garden continues to be a place where you want to stop and smell the roses. But don't stop at the Heritage Roses. The garden also offers edible flowers, such as fuchsias, borage, nasturtiums, pansies and garlic flowers which are featured in many of Cafe Beaujolais' dishes.
Don't miss the spiral aloe or the false blue weeping cypress tree located in the center of the garden. The cypress tree is rare and always fun to touch. As you stroll through the garden, you will notice objects of art such as the Beaujolais Bird topiary and "Uranus in Neptune," a sculpture made from recycled storm drains and located next to the back deck. Be sure to check out the metal flower art ornament in the center of the garden which is constructed of old car parts. Like all gardens, the longer you look at it, the more you will discover in this wonderful space.
The owners of the garden, Kristy and David, invite you to come see the beauty and the whimsy for yourselves. Also, while strolling through the garden, discover the tantalizing smell of the Brickery where you can peek and see the bakers preparing the daily supply of bread and bagels. For those of you who have lunch at the Café Beaujolais, you will see their new entry designed by Sharon Kiss.
