Garden Paradise • Artist's Craftsman
This wonderful home was remodeled and designed to remind the owners of the craftsman home they left behind. Berkeley native Janis Porter and her husband John worked with Architect Diana Wiedemann and Contractor Mark Collard and Leonard Swithenbank to create a classic home with detail and attention usually found in the traditional craftsman. You will note how gracious the house looks from the road with the garage tucked away to the side and also take note of the beautiful fence that John built. You will love the Porter's brand new, beautiful kitchen, designed for entertaining friends and family.
Janis Porter is a well-known and popular Mendocino artist with her own distinct style. One important factor she needed in her home was to have a large living area, with plenty of wall space to hang her extensive collection of California artists, many of them from Mendocino. Included in the Porter's collection: Janis’s own watercolors, Patricia Osborne, Nancy Collins, Jim Bertram, Hilda Pertha, Erin Dertner, Linda Erfle, E. John Robinson, Sunshine Taylor, Linda Shearin, Douglas Chun, Olga Seem, Edouardo Tajettii, Marion Bush, Cathryn Coombs, John Fence, Donna Jensen-Burke, Bill Sala, Heidi Endemann, Lynne Prentice, Karen Bowers and JD Mayhew.
