A timber-framed English-style garden shed, a stream, and two bridges connecting rooms of the garden, accent this artist’s English-themed garden.
Situated at the edge of the Pygmy forest, the gardens required a lot of good soil when planted in 1996. The landscaping, inspired by a trip to England and a tour of many gardens, initially included many perennials that have since been replaced by shrubs and trees for easy maintenance. However the plan and pathways remain the same.
Succulents are now the owner’s passion, filling many pots close to the house as well as on the deck. The prize possession is a large Japanese maple which turns a brilliant red in fall.
The garden has received widespread accolades, having appeared in Sunset and Coastal Living magazines, and featured as the cover story in Country Gardens.
Some of the gardens, which were on a previous Garden Tour, have been allowed to be reclaimed by nature.
