Saturday, June 23, 10 am – 5 pm

When my husband Jim and I were married, almost 19 years ago, we decided to reinvigorate and enlarge a garden space I had started many years past. Our present organic vegetable garden and fruit orchard is approximately one acre. We grow all our vegetables and save our summer produce for the winter months by canning, drying and freezing. We also share our produce with friends. Our vegetable beds have been double dug (John Jevons). We use raised beds for root crops. We also have a solar water pump that supplies two 3,000 gallon water tanks. We are in the process of building a hoop house. Please come visit and share the joy we have for growing food.

Members' Juried Garden Show
2nd Saturday Artists Reception: June 9, 5 pm–8pm

First Place: Karen Bowers,
"The Blooming Woods"
The Mendocino Art Center shines its Main and Nichols galleries spotlight on the all-media artwork of its contributing members in the Members’ Juried Garden Show, coinciding with the Art Center's Garden Tour, June 23. Each year, the Mendocino Art Center presents two exhibits featuring the finest works created by the Art Center's members. A highly competitive juried selection process leads to an exceptionally creative, high quality, and much anticipated gallery showing with a wide spectrum of artwork, including paintings, ceramics, sculpture, jewelry, wood furniture and photography.
The exhibit was juried by Birgit O'Connor.
Benefit Lunch at Ravens' Restaurant
On Garden Tour day, the Ravens' Restaurant at the Stanford Inn by the Sea, the north coast's premier organic vegetarian restaurant, will host a special gourmet lunch. The menu offers a choice of Ethiopian cuisine or a portobello mushroom sandwich. Both served with dessert. The meal is not the only sensory pleasure, with a breathtaking view from the dining room extending from the Big River Estuary to the Pacific Ocean.
