Second Saturday Gallery Reception: July 14, 5 pm – 8 pm
The Mendocino Art Center hosts a free Second Saturday Artists Reception each month. Enjoy snacks and wine, and meet the exhibiting artists.
Eleven artists from the Miasa-Omachi area in Nagano Prefecture are exhibiting their artwork as part of the sixth bi-ennial Miasa Sister City Art Exchange Exhibit. Works include woodworking, sculpture, ceramics, glass works, textiles, paintings, jewelry and more.
Mendocino Art Center founder Bill Zacha and artist Toshi Yoshida formalized the sister city relationship in 1980. In 1992 Miasa and Mendocino started annual youth exchanges that have continued throughout the years. The Annual Art Exchange Exhibit was inaugurated in 2008 at the Mendocino Art Center, followed by showings in 2010, 2012, 2014 and 2016. Mendocino Coast artists have exhibited their work in Omachi, Japan, in 2009, 2011, 2013, 2015 and 2017.
