During this workshop we will melt down sterling silver scrap and/or shot pour ingots to be fabricated into various “stock” forms – wire and sheet of different gauges and shapes. We will also tackle unusual shapes such as tapered and twisted rod forms and tubing – your desired stock shape will be our challenge. As we create this “stock” we will learn about the alloying process of precious metals and the different working properties there of. Students will gain a basic core understanding of silver and goldsmithing and gain the knowledge to fabricate any stock form that’s needed, efficiently and immediately. We will also discuss precious metal pricing, purchasing and refining. Students are encouraged to bring their own silver, sterling and gold scrap to re-process into usable stock.
