CLASS DESCRIPTION
This weekend workshop of Pocket Sketching™ is an easy technique to use for beginners and for those with some experience who want the portability to sketch anywhere quickly and fearlessly! The first two days you will learn the versatility of using a water-soluble pen and combining it with watercolors and the portability of fitting all the equipment into a fanny pack. In-studio discussions will cover focal point, contrast, and color while easily sketching images of landscape, still life, and people. Each image can be completed in less than 25 minutes. On day three, we will go outside into the garden to sketch [weather permitting] as well as journaling. Portable chair and umbrella are optional. Pocket Sketching technique is great to bring on your next vacation or stay-cation to have fun while creating a memory! With Pocket Sketching the world becomes your studio.

ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR
Bay Area artist PAULETTE LAGANA was born in New York City and, in 1982, moved to California. She began her studies in watercolor painting in Provence, France (2000). An avid globetrotter, travel changed her world view but painting gave her adventures color, texture, and light.

As a Certified Instructor of “Pocket Sketching™” (a compact, quick, easy to learn, and portable pen/watercolor technique created by Kath Macaulay), Paulette teaches workshops at several San Francisco Bay Area art centers in Brentwood, Livermore, and Concord. Presently, Paulette’s original artwork painted with watercolor, acrylic, colored pencil, oil, or mixed media is on exhibit in several East Bay galleries including Blackhawk in Danville, Delta Gallery in Brentwood, Livermore Library, San Ramon Library, and Lynn House in Antioch.
