CLASS DESCRIPTION
Learn the basics of using Liquitex Pouring Medium, a freeing and addictive method to tilt, swirl and create motion-based abstract art. No experience necessary. This entry-level workshop was designed to allow students to experiment without fear. All materials provided; students will leave with at least one completed 12”x12” or 11”x14” and several smaller works.

After exploring the basics, students then graduate to intermediate-level pour painting, learning multiple methods of layering to build up imagery and correct composition, flow, or finish issues. Students will explore other pouring and layering methods using GAC800 and Golden High Flow paints, and make and learn about the use of gelskins as well. Many of these methods and materials can be used beyond pour painting.

Each day will include supportive reviews of the previous day’s work, several demonstrations and hands-on pouring and layering by students. The instructor will finish with a lesson and demonstration of Art-Resin, a non-toxic acrylic based resin she uses for protecting pours for shipping to clients or galleries.

Only archival, high-end paints and mediums will be used in this class. The use of silicon, house paint, PV4 or other alternatives will not be taught.

Wear painting clothes – this can get messy.
