Vicki will share her knowledge of the best red, yellow and blue in nature. Day one you will learn the ancient mordant recipe and best ways to prepare your fibers. Day two we will dye using weld, nature's best yellow, while discussing other options for yellow. Day three we will dye with madder root using the nomadic way, and also cochineal for the best reds. Day four you will learn the magic of indigo blue. On day five we will finish all your projects and learn how to grow the plants. The Mendocino Art Center dye garden will show you the plants we have used and seeds to take away for your own dye garden. The ancient recipes are kept simple and practical. We will do small batch dyeing with Vicki's own handspun fibers and small skeins of your own while learning the basic do's and don'ts to keep us and the earth safe.
