Felting is a wonderful art medium. Felted art speaks to our visual sense, but, in addition, it invites touch. In this wet felting workshop, you will be able to develop your personal ideas and designs into felt. I will show lots of examples and you will create artistic and useful items of your choice, such as wall art, coasters, place mats, scarves, wrist warmers, jewelry, collars, belts, journals/sketch books, and bags. You can expect to complete 1-2 projects per day, depending on size and complexity. We will be utilizing wool fiber combined with sheer or hand-woven fabrics, cording, wool locks, silk, plant material, and/or resists. Expect to have a lot of fun playing with color and texture and experience the magical transformation of fibers into a solid piece using only soap, water and agitation. This workshop is for felters of any level of experience, from beginner to advanced.

I am constantly moved and inspired by the patterns, textures, colors, and moods of the natural environment. My goal is to foster strong connections between humans and their environment and therefore, I have chosen plant and animal fibers as my main artistic medium. I almost exclusively use wool fiber from local sheep which I process myself. I love how each sheep makes its own individual contribution to my artwork.

My artwork has been part of various juried exhibits throughout Mendocino and Sonoma Counties and it is in private collections in California, Oregon, Washington, New York, England, Scotland, Germany and Austria.

I have been teaching fiber arts courses at Mendocino Art Center, Willits Center for the Arts, Willits High School, Emandal Art Stays, Mendocino County Art Association, Willits Kids Club, Mendocino College Community Extension Program and in my studio.
