Upcoming Fine Art Classes
Fine Art Department
Instructor: Evelyn Klein
We will start with layers of prints, drawings or photographs to which we will add encaustic monotype. The monotypes will be made by painting with non-toxic colored wax pigments on a hot box and then transferring the image onto paper. The process can be repeated in a very painterly manner, building up layers, depth and transparency. We will then collage using Golden acrylic mediums. At this point we will laminate the work onto a wood panel, canvas, paper or other support, and then proceed to work with cold wax, oil pastels and oil glazes as added layers to further deepen the work.
As a new addition to this layering process I have added relief prints to layer with encaustic monotype and collage. Students will be provided with silkcut linoleum (very soft) to carve and hand print on fabric as well as paper.
This class is highly recommended to help participants at all levels loosen up and grow in the artistic development.
ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR
“Moving from Montreal to California 20 years ago, where I worked with leading master printers and established artists, it led me to establish my own print studio, Equinox Press, which has blossomed into a unique non-toxic facility offering the latest innovations in printmaking and painting. It responds to the need of a vibrant and artistic community, offering a place to work as well as receive instruction and guidance, from image making to framing, preparing portfolios for jury applications, Photoshop assistance and more. Above all, I offer a supportive, stimulating and safe place where artists and students can create, share and exchange ideas. I have been teaching printmaking at Monterey Peninsula College for 15 years as well.
“During the past few years I have been pulled more and more into teaching, which has taken over a large part of my artistic career. I love the creative exchange, finding much satisfaction in sharing my discoveries and new techniques as well as receiving valuable information.”
