CLASS DESCRIPTION
This class is directed to artists who work on paper as well as textile artists. We will include two long marbling trays so everyone will have multiple opportunities to marble scarves or ties. Everyone should walk away with 10 to 20 beautiful/unique sheets of marbled paper appropriate for printmaking, background for pastels, collage and many other applications. The instruction will offer experiences for those familiar with marbling as well as first timers.

The first day we'll go through the process of preparing paints (acrylics) and gelatin size. Then I will take you thru the steps of alum sizing paper and fabrics, laying out paint on the size, developing patterns and pulling sheets of marbled paper and fabric. We will also explore some controlled techniques to realize pictorial images within the marbling process. The second day I will demonstrate marbling appropriate 3D objects, fabric and techniques for collage and paper construction with marbled paper. Students will be encouraged to use the processes to further their personal aesthetic goals and have fun.

ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR
