This workshop will focus on capturing the beauty of a landscape painting. We will work on strengthening your composition through simplified shapes, value patterns and identifying the light and dark patterns in a landscape. The first day of this workshop we will work from photos in the morning to do thumbnail sketches, a charcoal study, a 5”x7” gray scale painting and a 5”x7” color study. We will venture outside in the afternoon, if time permits and weather permits. The second and third days we will paint along the Mendocino coastline, explore the quaint town of Mendocino and venture to MacKerricher State Park. The class will be taught with a lot of individual attention and Ellen will do a demo each day. Ellen teaches with a lot of enthusiasm, energy and humor. We will end the workshop with a short critique.
