CLASS DESCRIPTION
Wheel throwing is one of the quintessential pottery techniques. In this workshop students will get to learn and practice advance techniques for the potter’s wheel. We’ll work on throwing and altering, sectional throwing to make large pieces, and other techniques to open up new possibilities on the wheel. Students must have experience with wheel throwing.

 

ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR
IAN HAZARD-BILL was born and raised in Marin County. He started working in clay in high school and has continued since. He has a B.A. in ceramics and community based sustainability from The Evergreen State College. He has been an apprentice to Seth Cardew in Spain for three months, an artist in residence at the Cub Creek Foundation, studio manager at Sugar Maples Center for Creative Arts, and assistant to the Director at Cub Creek Foundation before his 2019-20 residency at the Mendocino Art Center.

Current MAC Members: $288
Non-members: $320 plus a $45 non-member registration fee

There is a registration fee of $45 for each class for non-members. Current Mendocino Art Center members do not pay a registration fee and may take 10% off each class registration. The discount is reflected in the prices above. Not a member yet? You may sign up below.

REFUNDS & CANCELLATIONS
Cancellations must be made in writing, either by mail or email. If you notify us at least 21 days prior to the first class meeting, you will receive a refund of tuition less a $45 cancellation fee. No refunds will be made after that date for any reason due to our contractual obligations and material acquisitions. If the Art Center is compelled to cancel a class you will receive a full tuition refund. Memberships are non-refundable as they are considered a donation to the Art Center.
