During this workshop students will learn methods of combining mixed metals, silver, gold, and copper, to create sheet stock of various patterns and colors. The emphasis of this workshop is on integrating eastern metal techniques into western design concepts. We will learn to alloy Shibuichi sheet, laminate gold and copper to silver creating bi-metal sheet and a simple version of mokumé gané that can be done right at the workbench. After creating this unusual and beautiful stock we will learn how to use, fabricate with and even reticulate, this new stock.
The Susan E. Wood Jewelry Studio is available for use for a fee the days following your workshop should you like to continue practicing new skills or finish projects started in class. For more details or to schedule extra workdays, please contact Nancy Gardner, Jewelry Coordinator/Studio Manager.
