ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR
RON ORTMAN began ceramics at St. Mary’s College in 1969 under the instruction of Robert Yaryan. He continued his studies in a private studio in Calistoga. He left ceramics to study dance, and then returned to ceramics in 2010, studying with Jennifer Brazelton. Ron became an active member of the Potter’s Studio in Berkeley, having the opportunity to engage with many outstanding Bay Area artists. There he developed techniques of carving, sculpting and painting clay. He moved to Fort Bragg in 2016 where he expanded his work in painting and sculpting into mosaic. Mosaic has allowed him to pursue a new direction in clay art.
