In this hands-on workshop students learn all of the foundation stitches of bead embroidery as well as many variations on them. From sparsely stitched individual beads to densely beaded focal areas, students explore many of the limitless ways to add texture and dimension to fiber art with beads. Students also learn beaded edge and fringe techniques as well as several more three-dimensional sculptural stitches.
Class time is a mixture of hand stitching the many techniques introduced, sharing with one another what we have learned and created, and viewing many examples of bead embroidery that will be provided in physical form and in print for inspiration and technique illustration. Each student will take home a sampler of the many bead embroidery stitches learned as well as detailed hand-outs with information about stitches, bead and thread selection, and other important information for continued exploration of bead embroidery beyond the classroom.
