CLASS DESCRIPTION
This workshop will focus on drawing and painting with the use of vitreous enamels on copper and porcelain steel. Liquid, watercolor and oil-based enamels will all be used in this course as well as drawing with graphite, ceramic oxide pencils and pastels. Previous drawing and painting experience are a plus but not required as the instructor will discuss color theory, composition, and different mark making and painting techniques.

The Susan E. Wood Jewelry Studio is available for use for a fee the days following your workshop should you like to continue practicing new skills or finish projects started in class. For more details or to schedule extra workdays, please contact Nancy Gardner, Jewelry/Metal Arts Coordinator.


ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR
NIKKI COUPPEÉ is originally from Pensacola Beach, Florida, and is currently residing in the San Francisco Bay Area. She received an M.F.A. from Kent State University, Jewelry/Metals, Kent, Ohio, 2011, and a B.F.A. from the University of Georgia, Athens, Georgia, Jewelry/Metals, 2007. Her work has been featured in publications including American Craft, Allure Australia, Marie Claire Australia, Metalsmith magazine, Modern Magazine, Vogue Brazil, Dailycandy and Lark Book’s 500 Enameled Objects. She shows her work nationally and internationally through exhibitions, gallery representation, fairs and recent collaboration with the Australian designers, Romance was Bornj for Paris Fashion Week. Her work was selected for SCHMUCK 2018 in Munich, LOOT at the Museum of Art and Design in NYC, Racine Art Museum, and SIERAAD International Jewelry Fair, Amsterdam, The Netherlands. She has taught enameling and jewelry/metals techniques at Kent State University, The Cleveland Institute of Art and The Crucible in West Oakland.

Current MAC Members: $324
Non-members: $360 plus a $45 non-member registration fee

There is a registration fee of $45 for each class for non-members. Current Mendocino Art Center members do not pay a registration fee and may take 10% off each class registration. The discount is reflected in the prices above. Not a member yet? You may sign up below.

REFUNDS & CANCELLATIONS
Cancellations must be made in writing, either by mail or email. If you notify us at least 21 days prior to the first class meeting, you will receive a refund of tuition less a $45 cancellation fee. No refunds will be made after that date for any reason due to our contractual obligations and material acquisitions. If the Art Center is compelled to cancel a class you will receive a full tuition refund. Memberships are non-refundable as they are considered a donation to the Art Center.
