PRESSED PORCELAIN PAPERCLAY
June 19–21, 2020 (Friday–Sunday, 9:30am–4:30pm)
SU20C202 • All levels
Due to the coronavirus pandemic, this class has been cancelled.
Mixing paper pulp into your clay is a fantastic advantage to building stronger and lighter ceramic sculpture, and creating thinner more delicate edges in your handbuilt elements. As an introduction to the material, we will talk about the varied uses of mixing cellulose into water-based clay and the Artist’s own personal approach to using paperclay in her artwork. Students will learn how to make paperclay and, through demonstration and assistance, how to sculpt a floral arrangement with porcelain paperclay inside a stoneware paperclay shadowbox.
