The Mendocino Art Center offers an Artist in Residence program each year from September through May. One- to nine-month residencies are available in ceramics, digital arts, fine art, jewelry/metalsmithing, sculpture and textiles. The program offers the working artist and craftsperson, emerging or established, a welcome retreat from the usual routine of everyday life and a chance to develop a body of work, while striving for personal and artistic growth.
They become members of the Mendocino Coast community, many of them living in apartments on the Art Center campus and teaching a variety of art subjects to county schoolchildren, as part of the Art Center's free, hand-on art field trips.
