Figure Drawing Collective

Mendocino Figure Drawing Collective (MFDC) is a loose-knit association of local and visiting artists and models, meeting weekly for the past 25 years. The Collective originated at the Mendocino Art Center, and its workshops are a fundamental year-round component of the Art Center’s traditional studies program.

Our sessions are strictly on a drop-in basis, uninstructed, solely for the purpose of serious study. The group has served hundreds of artists and generated thousands of figure studies. These drawings affirm the expressive capacity of the human form, and the beauty, elegance and raw power of drawing.

Schedule & Costs

Current sessions meet each Wednesday, from 1:30 to 4:30 PM. Masks are currently required.

A single session drop-in fee is $15, or $13 per session if paid by the month.

All artists who wish to draw from live models are welcome to attend our weekly sessions. Slightly early arrival recommended, as occasionally the studio fills up. There are chairs, tables, easels, and a sink available; you bring all other supplies. NO aromatic solvents or cameras are allowed.
