Please join resident artist @tavschristina this Friday 5-6pm in the Winona studio. They will offer an informal showing that brings together the work from their time here, providing a glimpse into their performance practice alongside readings of some of their research focusing on their feature film “Revel.”

Tavia Christina (they/he) is a Toronto-based director and choreographer creating work across film and live performance. Their practice is rooted in movement as a narrative tool, using the body to explore relationships, power, memory, and transformation. Working between mediums, they are drawn to stories where emotion is carried through image, gesture, and atmosphere as much as dialogue.

With a background in contemporary dance, theatre, and performance, Tavia approaches directing through choreography—building visual worlds that are intimate, cinematic, and physically expressive. Their work often examines the ways people hold, lose, and remake one another, asking how the body carries what the mind cannot.

Their film Want You received Best Director at the Silver Screens Festival Prague, the Outstanding Achievement Award (Screendance Short) at IndieX Film Fest and Indie Short Fest in Los Angeles, and Best Choreography at Canada's Innovate Film Showcase. A Dora Mavor Moore Award nominee and Metcalf Foundation Internship recipient, Tavia is currently expanding their directing practice across narrative film, music videos, and interdisciplinary performance.
