Workshop Description: 
Do you love the concept of materiality? This workshop will allow you to dive into your creative process using flax fiber papermaking techniques and natural materials to create fiber sculpture. Learn armature building with rattan and markmaking with sumi ink. The workshop is designed to alternate between focused instructional demonstrations and uninterrupted studio time to develop an idea or project.

About the Instructor:
Jacqueline Mallegni is a studio artist focusing on handmade paper for sculptural applications. Originally from northern California she currently lives in Arroyo Hondo, NM, near Taos.

Required Materials:

  • favorite sumi brush

  • waxed linen thread (1- 4 ply spool - see links below)

  • garden clippers to cut rattan

  • box to transport damp sculpture home safely
