Workshop Description:
In this workshop, participants will connect to the body and spirit through acting and devised theatre exercises, and explore eco-theatre as a way to connect artistry with the natural world. Using site-specific theatre methods, participants will explore the unique intersection of ocean, forest, and self to create original, short-form theatre.

This is a chance for students to develop a new piece of site-specific theatre, workshop a piece they already have, or experiment. Movement artists, theatre artists, dancers, poets, sculptors, and people of all discipline are encouraged to join the course, as devised site-specific theatre offers the ability to deepen a variety of artistic disciplines, and collaboration will be encouraged in this class. No experience is required.

About the Instructor:
Sivan Spector (she/her) is a Chicago-based director, devisor, playwright, puppetmaker, educator, and clown. She uses multi-media forms to create unique and experimental theatre, and loves nothing more than collaboration, whether it is with community members, professional artists, or children. Much of her work centers around explorations of home, and many collaborations revolve around creating a vibrant artistic culture in the Jewish diaspora, both in drawing from tradition and queering the possibilities of what this means entirely.

Required Materials:
Students will need to provide their own notebooks & pencils.
