Workshop Description:
Join us in creating a permanent sculptural mosaic bench for the Mendocino Art Center campus! This three day intensive workshop will cover everything you need to know to successfully create a durable reinforced concrete form and surface it with vibrant mosaics in any outdoor space. We will discuss, demonstrate, and participate in topics such as design theory, material choice, foundation and structural reinforcement, ferro cement and cement casting, mosaic tile basics, and the “Community-Built” public art model. The focus and output of the workshop will be a collaboration, the permanent installation of a functional bench sculpture created by YOU, and will include design input from the broader community. All experience levels and backgrounds are welcome.
