Through hands-on work, participants will develop skills in complex designs using many different specific wax tools and working with multiple types of wax.
Ideal for artists, furniture makers, and jewelers, this course helps expand and refine skills in this ancient craft!
About the Instructor:
Gia Jones is the founder and steward of Unearthen. She began making jewelry in New York in 2003, when her work as a stylist on music videos and editorial shoots led her to create the elevated, organic pieces she envisioned but couldn’t source. In 2007, she left the fashion world and its rapid trend cycles to create her first collection.
Today, her work is guided by the dialectical and meditative process that emerges when hands become conduits for intuition. Inspired by music, ancient forms, and the quiet beauty of organic materials, Gia believes that nature is responsible for everything that is beautiful and profound; her role is to listen deeply, create instinctually, and allow the meaning of each form to emerge.
Gia designs with longevity in mind. Whether creating a custom engagement ring or a set of sculptural pulls, her goal is the same: to bring forth objects of depth and substance — timeless pieces that belong to the past and present. The results are sophisticated offerings that feel as if they’ve always existed. Each piece is a study in reverence and timelessness — an object to live with now and for a thousand years to come.
