Workshop Description:
In this hands-on weekly workshop, you'll learn the essential techniques of throwing on the potter’s wheel. We'll start with the fundamentals and build your skills as we create classic forms such as cylinders, bowls, and vases. Toward the end of the course, you'll also learn how to trim your pieces, refining their final form. This beginner-friendly workshop offers a supportive space to explore and grow your pottery practice.

About the Instructor: Liz Vukelich, an artist with a MFA in ceramics from Alfred University and a BA in studio art and political science from Mary Baldwin College. Liz is working as an Artist in Residence at the Mendocino Art Center for the 2025/26 residency period. Her work, which has been showcased both locally and nationally, includes pottery for everyday and celebratory use, as well as participatory pieces. These works are designed for ritual, performance, and interaction, exploring human connections and offering ceremonial avenues for processing grief, as well as exploring our connections with each other.
